Week ending 12/3/10

On Monday, we used a day of C's staycation time to pick up the underlayment for the flooring. He's been doing research and found the best product for us. It's made of recycled tires (recycled is a plus!) and it's designed for sound insulation. It will help keep outside noise from coming in, which is a plus since our house is old and was poorly constructed even under the looser standards of the 1950's. It will also help keep sounds from the home theater and sound system from being heard outside. You haven't experienced an explosion in a movie until you've heard it from a 4 foot tall subwoofer!

The place that sells the underlayment is about 60 miles from here, so we spent half a day picking it up and saved some shipping time and a few hundred dollars. The Prius, ever the hardy construction vehicle, did the job! Props to my fabulous husband for driving us safely home in a car holding 800 pounds!

Here's a shot of the hard-working Prius back at home with the bumper just a few inches off the ground.

On Wednesday, we took the day off and went out to Catalina. I've been in LA for 12 years and have never been to the island so we finally went. It was really fun! We walked around for a bit and then rented a golf cart to tour the island.

Here's me - love the sky behind me!

Here's C driving the golf cart high up on the mountain:
