Week ending 7/9/10

On Saturday, we spent a few hours researching flooring. We were almost ready to buy laminate from Costco, but realized we were not quite sure enough and decided to forego the coupon to make sure we don't make a mistake. We'll probably end up with either laminate or Marmoleum Click, a linoleum that comes in 1' x 3' click together panels. We went to a flooring store and looked at the Marmoleum and really liked it. I also ordered some samples.

On Monday, Chris was off from work so we did 3.5 hours of sanding and finished the most recent coat of shellac! Yay! If I can finish the pre-work for the next coat, we can finish the coat next weekend, and then we just need one more weekend session to sand. We could be done except for buffing in two weeks! That means we can move on to paint and flooring! Buffing will be time consuming, but it can be done over time. It's not messy or on the critical path to the flooring.
