Week ending 9/30/11

I got back from a week out of town on Wednesday, so no renovation this week. Our next project is the bath/shower enclosure. I'm dreading this one and don't know where to start.

Week ending 9/23/11

This week I was out of town starting Wednesday so I was busy packing - no renovation work here this week!

Week ending 9/16/11

On Saturday, we visited with family who were in town and on Sunday C worked so not much activity on the home remodel front. The new TV is operational and we are very much enjoying it. We just need to finish the clean up and wire the internet jack so the TV can get Netflix. We've also got loads of cleanup to do - it seems that more often than not we have a pile of boxes to be put in our recycling bin as space is available.

Week ending 9/9/11

On Saturday, we spent a few more hours on the tv and C even worked for a few hours on Sunday but we still didn't have it up. We had a good plan and the beginnings of getting it mounted but it wasn't up.

On Tuesday, C came home for lunch because he thought we were ready to mount the tv and we both needed to be there to lift it. We were really disappointed to have to carry that darn tv back to the kitchen table when it wouldn't fit the mount by a fraction of an inch.

C did some adjusting late Tuesday night after getting home and we were able to get it in place on Wednesday morning! Victory! It only took a few minutes once we had gotten that far. We just had to lift it into place and secure a few screws.

I stayed up late to wait for him Wednesday night and we were able to watch a show on our new tv!

Thursday we had our annual hedge and tree trim. I waited a few extra weeks from the 1-year mark and I think I waited too long because the hedge and trees are really bare. Oh well, they'll grow back and I know for next year.

Week ending 9/2/11

On Saturday, we worked some more on the tv. We went to a specialty store and got the mounting bracket and did some work toward getting it up on the wall. Of course we were thwarted by unevenly spaced, hard-to-find wall studs. We find so much strange construction in this house!

We still don't have the tv up on the wall after the end of day 2 of working on it. C spent a few more hours on Sunday before he had to go to work. It was a hassle trying to fit a bracket designed for evenly spaced studs onto our makeshift construction.

The rest of the week, nothing happened. C is working really hard and it's taken a lot out of me too.
