Merry Christmas
Well, we're having a quiet day and I'm actually caught up on the blog. Yay!
This is a blog we set up so interested friends and family members can follow our remodel. We're very excited and hope to share our success with you. Please don't post any identifying information in your comments. I do sometimes get behind, usually due to having to transfer my pictures from the camera and from working some long days. I usually do at least a few entries a week though, so be sure to read back a few days to catch them all.
Monday I was still sick, but threw caution to the wind and spent 2.5 hours on Shellac. I got the three sliding windows done and probably need about 3 more hours to finish this coat. I estimate about 36 to finish the shellac. It's not fun. I'm so sick of this job I can't wait to finish. I cannot let another year pass living in squalor.
I'm still here - I just posted some stuff from August and September and am making some time to get caught up. So much is going on outside the remodel it's been hard to keep up with it all.
I've been sick since Sunday and haven't made any progress except a trip to my local hardware store to buy more shellac and brushes. Hopefully, this will be my last supply run.
Once more, I took advantage of C being able to take time off and jetted off to my hometown. No work this week!
On Saturday 11/28, I spent 2.5 hours getting part of a coat of shellac done. I estimate that I am under 40 hours total to finish the shellac! That will take longer than it seems though - I can't do more than a few hours at a time because it's just too tedious. I start to get sloppy and resentful and then I don't want to go back to that job. Also, other factors have to line up for me to work on this project - if I'm shellacking, it needs to be nice enough to have the windows open for a few hours for the fumes, to aid drying and to make sure I don't have any wet parts touching. I have to have a day with little scheduled and be able to do the windows during daylight hours. Aside from the tedium, the factors don't line up all that often.
